COVID-19: Bihar Announces Rs 100 Cr Relief Package, To Convert Schools Into Shelter Homes For Needy

Mumbai: In order to help the poor and daily laborers who are facing the brunt of the lockout in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, the Bihar government on Thursday announced a relief package of Rs 100 crore and has decided to convert the schools into shelter homes.

The government led by Nitish Kumar said that it would provide food to the needy in these temperate shelters.

The government has released Rs 100 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for migrants stranded in other states or who have returned to the state.

According to data from the Union Health Ministry, there have been 3 positive cases of COVID-19 including one death in Bihar.

The Ministry of Health stated that the total number of COVID-19 cases in India has risen to 649, including 593 active cases and 42 people who have been cured or discharged from hospitals.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced a 21-day lockout across the country from midnight to combat the spread of coronavirus, saying “social disturbances” are the only option to combat the disease, which spreads rapidly.
