However, restrictions will continue in the remaining 11 districts with a high positivity rate and weekly increase.

According to the minister, the relaxation will be in the form of ease of functioning of shops, theatres, cinema halls, gyms, etc.

Tope said that however, the government has decided to relax restrictions for wedding ceremonies, etc. He said that the government discourages the use of air-conditioned halls for such gatherings.

Regarding the restrictions of the weekend, Tope said that shops will be allowed to operate with some restrictions on Saturday, but the restrictions will continue on Sunday as well.

“Detailed guidelines will be released in the next 2-3 days,” Tope said.

The minister further informed that hotels and shops will be allowed to operate till 8 or 9 pm.

“But, they need to ensure that the employees are fully vaccinated. Besides, they will be allowed to work only at 50 percent capacity,” the minister said.
