Covid-19 Figures In India Crosses 80 Thousand, Death Toll At 2,649

Mumbai: Covid-19 has become a noble headline for every newspaper printed since day one of its inceptions. India not far from the trend has witnessed an empathetic increase in its figure as the country reports 3,967 cases and a hundred deaths in the last 24 hours.

Presently, India homes to 81,970 positive Covid-19 cases including 51,401 active cases, 27,920 recoveries, and 2,649 fatalities according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

State-wise statistics show no improvement but more and more states being severely affected by the pandemic. Maharashtra remains the largest hit state with 27,524 cases and over a thousand deaths.

Tamil Nadu has seen an enormous spike in the last few days making it the second-highest affected state with  9,674. This is followed by Gujarat with 9,591 cases.

Observing the rapid upsurge in the state, Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray has announced to extend the lockdown till 31st May in MMR, Pune, Malegaon and Aurangabad region.

Further guidelines for the nationwide extension of lockdown 4.0 is to be out soon as announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the citizens.
