COVID-19 +ve Journalists, Their Families To Be Given Free Treatment: MP CM

Mumbai: Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan said on Friday that the state government would bear the cost of treatment of all COVID-19 infected journalists and their family members.

This applies to both accredited and non-accredited journalists and media persons working in print, electronic and digital media.

“Today, we have decided that all journalists and media persons, whether they are accredited on non-accredited, working in print, electronic and digital media, and their family members if found infected with COVID-19, then the Madhya Pradesh government will take care of their treatment and will not leave them on their own,” Chouhan said.

“We have seen that while performing their duties and in the process of disseminating news, many journalists got infected with COVID-19 and some of them even, unfortunately, died,” the chief minister said in a media statement.

He said that this would help the journalists in performing their duties effectively and would also ensure better treatment of them.

Earlier this week, Chauhan also declared recognized journalists as frontline workers (Corona warriors).
