COVID19 Vaccine Sputnik Light Gets Permission For Phase 3 Trials In India

Sputnik Light is a Single Dose version of Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine

Mumbai: The drug Controller General of India has given approval for the trial of single dose vaccine Covid-19 vaccine version of Sputnik V vaccine ‘sputnik Light’. They can test these vaccines on Indian population and check whether the vaccines give a similar immune response to what it has shown on Russian population.

A Subject Expert Committee (SEC) meeting held on August 5 recommended the trial condition based on the efficacy of the vaccine also to be evaluated on the 42nd, 90th and 180th day following the second dose.

“Interim Analysis can be conducted on day 42 as this data was generated during the Sputnik V trials in India after the first dose, which was stated to be available up to day 21”, reads the minutes of the SEC meeting.

Sputnik Light has shown 79% efficiency against the virus. As of now, along with Covaxin and Covisheild, Russia’s Sputnik V and Jhonson and Jhonson’s Single dose vaccines are being used as approved by the Drug Control General of India for “emergency use”.
