Covishield And Covaxin Are Safest COVID19 Vaccines: VK Paul

Mumbai: Dr VK Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, said that Covishield and Covaxin the two COVID-19 vaccines “are safest of the vaccines”.

“Both vaccines (Covishield and Covaxin) have been authorized for emergency use and there should be no talk about their safety. They have been tested on thousands of people and side-effects are negligible. There is no risk of any significance,” Dr Paul said at a press conference here.

He said, “These two vaccines are the safest. Give the message that these vaccines are safe and secure. We need to send the message that we need to take this message and defeat the coronavirus.” Dr Paul urged the media to raise awareness and spread the message of safe vaccination throughout the country. He also appealed to all health workers and frontline workers to come forward and get vaccinated.

“We believe it makes a lot of sense for us to start the world’s largest vaccination program which is scheduled to begin on January 16. We need to involve all organizations that help the administration in the vaccination campaign Those organizations, institutions that offer help in this vaccination program, can contact their respective district authorities and help in making the program a success,” he said.

The first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive is scheduled to start from January 16. Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that the central government is having close collaboration with states and union territories for vaccine roll-out.
