Criminal Complaint Lodged Against Kamal Haasan For Hurting Religious Sentiments

Mumbai: In a speech in Tamilnadu on May 12, a criminal complaint was lodged against the actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan in Patiala House Court in Delhi, in connection with linking terrorism with Hinduism to “hurting religious sentiments of Hindus”.

The complaint was filed by Vishnu Gupta, who claims to be the founding member of the Hindu army, who claimed that Hassan’s remark hurt the religious sentiments and encouraged hostility among Hindus and Muslims. Gupta demanded to call the accused also for the same.

The court is likely to hear the matter on May 16.

On May 12, during campaigning in the Arakkurichi Assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu, Kamal Hassan, the leader of the political organization Makkal Needhi Maiyam, had raised the controversy that the first terrorist in independent India was Hindu, Nathuram Godse was mentioned, who killed Mahatma Gandhi.
