Dalit Woman Sexually Harassed, Forced To Undress At Gunpoint In UP; 7 Arrested

Mumbai: A 30-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly sexually harassed and forced to remove her clothes at gunpoint in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar. The miscreants also recorded the act on a mobile phone camera, police said.

The incident took in a village under the Kotwali police station limits of Muzaffarnagar district on Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, a total of seven people have been arrested in connection with the incident that took place on Sunday. The arrested accused have been identified by the police as Anuj, Kuldeep, Ankit, Ravi, Rizwan, Chhota and Abdul.

Police said the matter came to light after the video of the incident was circulated by the accused on social media.

Later, the victim lodged a complaint with the Kotwali police in this regard. The woman told that when she had gone to the field to cut grass, the accused caught her and raped her.

According to a PTI report, the victim alleged that they also made a video after forcing her to take off her clothes at gunpoint.

Police have registered a case under sections 354b and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), section 3 of the SC/ST Act, and Section 67 of the IT Act and arrested seven people involved in the case on Sunday, informed Kotwali police station, SHO Anand Dev Mishra.
