Dara Singh Chouhan’s resignation from the Yogi cabinet could deal a blow to the electoral prospects of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the upcoming assembly polls, especially since the latest development comes barely a day after Minister of State Swami Prasad Maurya also resigned from Yogi Adityanath cabinet

Dara Singh Chauhan told reporters today, “The BJP formed the government with the support of Dalits and backward communities, but did not serve them well, which is why I resigned.”

Talking about his future course of action, he said, “The next step would be to hold discussions with my society people and then take a call for future course of action.”

Elections for the 403-member Uttar Pradesh assembly will be held in seven phases.

The polling will be held on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, and March 3 and 7 in seven phases.
