Daughter Of COVID-19 Patient Molested By Hospital Worker In Waiting Lounge

Mumbai: A woman COVID-19 patient’s 18-year-old daughter was molested by a worker of a private Madhya Pradesh hospital in the facility’s waiting lounge.

The crime took place last month but recently came to light when the 18-year-old victim lodged a complaint against the accused after her mother was discharged from the hospital.

According to the police, the COVID-19 positive woman, a native of the Sehore district, was admitted to a private hospital in the Ashoka Garden area. While she was undergoing treatment, her 18-year-old daughter lived in the hospital’s waiting lounge. At around 1 am on the of 28 April, Sunil, who works as a compounder in the hospital, molested the teenager while she was sleeping. Shortly afterwards, he sexually harassed her again.

“She (survivor) used to stay at the waiting lounge of the hospital to take care of her mother… After her mother was discharged, the survivor lodged a complaint on CM helpline,” a report by The Times of India quoted Ashoka Garden SHO Alok Shrivastava as saying.

The private hospital has been asked to provide details of the accused compounder, the SHO said, adding that his arrest will be recorded soon.
