Defence Ministry Instigated To Assign Next Naval Chief, Decision In Little Time

Mumbai: The binding Admiral Sunil Lanba will be retired on 31st May from his service. The Defence Ministry has instigated to appoint the next chief of Navy staff.

It is expected that the decision will be announced soon.

Government sources told ANI, “Process to appoint the next chief is been started. Name of senior most officers is been kept in front. The decision seems to come soon.”

The maritime force followed by Vice admirals Karambir Singh and Ajith Kumar, respectively, Vice Admiral Bimal Verma is the senior most these top three, as per seniority levels.

The record of service of one of the office has mention leak case in Navy room.

“The model code of conduct and general elections will not have any effect on the appointment of the naval chief as there is a priority in this,” ANI quoted sources saying.

In 2014, after the controversial resignation of Admiral DK Joshi, the UPA government has appointed Admiral Robin Dhowan as Navy chief in view of 26th February submarine mishaps.

It then went appointment of General Dalbir Singh as the Army chief that almost couple of month before the retirement of the forerunner, General Bikram Singh.

Vice Admiral Ajith Kumar is leading the Navy in the western command in Mumbai and also looks International Marine boundary with Pakistan.

Vice Admiral Bimal Verma is currently heading the command in Andaman and Nicobar islands in Port Blair.
Vice Admiral Karambir Singh is leading the Eastern command based in Vishakhapatnam.
