Delhi Budget: Rs 50 Crores Allocated For Free COVID-19 Vaccines

Mumbai: The Delhi government has allocated Rs 50 crore in this year’s budget to provide free COVID-19 vaccines to the people of the national capital.

Presenting Delhi’s first paperless budget, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, “COVID-19 vaccines will be available free of cost for people of Delhi in government hospitals in the union territory. We have allotted Rs 50 crores in the budget for the same.”

He also said that soon the number of COVID-19 vaccinations will be increased from 45,000 to 60,000.

Sisodia also announced that Delhi will have its first Sainik School with the Delhi Armed Forces Preparation Academy, where students will be familiar with NDA coaching in addition to regular studies.

Presenting the budget, Sisodia said, “Today I present this ‘patriotic budget’ in view of the celebrations of the centre of India’s 75 years of independence.”

The budget session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly is scheduled to continue till March 16. The nationwide vaccination campaign was carried out on January 16 and the frontline workers were vaccinated starting on February 2.

The second phase of COVID-19 vaccination began on 1 March for those who are over 60 years of age and 45 years of age or older with specified co-morbid conditions.
