Delhi CM Urges PM Modi To Allow Implementation Of Ration Scheme

Mumbai: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to implement a door-to-door ration distribution scheme in the national capital.

“Till today I have supported you in all the works of national interest, for this, you should also support us. This scheme should be implemented during the COVID period across the country. We are ready to do whatever amendments the Central government wants to make to this scheme. I request you in folded hands on behalf of 70 lakh poor people of Delhi, Sir, please do not stop this scheme,” Kejriwal wrote in his letter to the prime minister.

CM Kejriwal on Sunday slammed the Center for stalling the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s “revolutionary” ration distribution scheme, which was scheduled to start from Monday. He said that despite seeking permission five times, this scheme has been stopped without a legal requirement.

In a press conference, he had claimed that all preparations have been made regarding the plan.

Just two days before the implementation of the “doorstep delivery of ration” scheme, the central government stopped it. If this door-to-door ration scheme was implemented, then the ration mafia would have stopped. The strings of this ration mafia reach the top. This is the first time any government has dared to stand against the ration mafia.”

Delhi government, which originally named the scheme ‘Mukhya Mantri Ghar Ghar Ration Yojana’ dropped the same after a March 9 notification issued to it by the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs.
