Delhi Court Grants Bail To Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad

Mumbai: In another development, a Delhi court on Wednesday granted bail to Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad, who was earlier arrested in connection with the Daryaganj violence case.

While granting him bail, Azad has been ordered not to hold any protest rally in Delhi till February 16. The court has also asked Azad’s lawyer to read some of his social media posts.

Representing Azad, advocate Mahmood Pracha said that the petitioner was sent to jail in Delhi’s Daryaganj area last year without any evidence against the opposition of the anti-CAA.

“I think the court’s comment should become an example for the country.” At the behest of the police, the government lawyer tried to make it a communal issue. We told the court that the government had a problem with Azad because it made CAA-NPR-NRC an issue for all. The court also asked for evidence, ”Pracha told ANI. He said this after Delhi’s Tis Hazari court deferred Azad’s bail plea till Wednesday.

Azad was arrested on December 21 last year after taking out a protest march against the CAA from Jama Masjid. Due to protests, he was sent to judicial custody in Tihar Jail till January 18.

The arrest was made after allegations of sabotage, unlawful assembly and inciting a mob indulging in violence in Delhi’s Daryaganj area.
