Delhi Govt Allows Farmers To Stage Protest At Jantar Mantar from July 22- Aug 9

Mumbai: The Delhi government has allowed farmers to stage protests at Jantar Mantar between 11 am and 5 pm from July 22 to August 9 against the new farm laws

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority allowed farmers to hold protests between 11 am and 5 pm. From 22 July to 9 August, subject to the participation of a maximum of 200 protesters per day.

Earlier today, Special CP (Crime) Satish Golcha and Joint CP Jaspal Singh visited Jantar Mantar, where farmers are to protest against three controversial agriculture laws tomorrow.

However, the Delhi Police said that it has not yet given written permission to the farmers to assemble near Parliament to protest.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of over 40 farmer unions, has planned that around 200 farmers will march outside Parliament every day from July 22 during the monsoon session to demand scrapping of the contentious farm laws and a legal guarantee on MSP.

“Our 200 people will go from Singhu border in four to five buses tomorrow. We will assemble at the Singhu border (from various protest sites) and move towards (Jantar Mantar). We will protest at Jantar Mantar till the monsoon session of Parliament ends. Will protest,” said Bharatiya Kisan Sangh leader Rakesh Tikait.

Thousands of farmers across the country are protesting at Delhi’s borders against the three agriculture laws, expressing apprehensions that the act will end the minimum support price system.

So far, several rounds of talks have been held between the Center and farmer leaders to break the deadlock between the two sides.
