Delhi Govt Bans Public Celebrations Of Ganesh Chaturthi In View Of COVID-19

Mumbai: Delhi Disaster Management Authority has said that Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations will not be allowed at public places in view of COVID-19 pandemic.

The DDMA ordered district magistrates and deputy commissioners of police to ensure that Lord Ganesha idols are not set up in a tent or pandal.

In view of the situation of Covid-19 in the national capital, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has passed this order.

“There will be no public celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi in the national capital in view of the COVID-19 pandemic,” the order of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority said.

The DDMA further advised people to celebrate the festival at home.

In an order issued on Tuesday, the DDMA said that the District Magistrate and the Deputy Commissioner of Police will ensure that idols of Lord Ganesha are not installed in tents or pandals.

At the same time, it should also be ensured that no crowd gathers at any religious or social place. No permission will be given for any process.

The DDMA order states that Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated this month and in view of the existing restrictions on gatherings and gatherings and the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been decided that the festival will be allowed to be celebrated in public places.

The Karnataka government has also banned processions during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival and said distribution of food and prasad will not be allowed.
