Delhi Govt Imposes Fine Of Over Rs 1.10 Cr For Violating COVID Protocols On January 11

Mumbai: The Delhi government on Tuesday imposed a total fine of Rs 1,10,88,800 for violation of COVID protocols in the national capital. A total of 63 FIRs were registered by the administration.

Most of the cases of violation of COVID protocol were reported from South Delhi and East Delhi out of 11 districts. South Delhi saw 782 cases of violation of COVID rules, while 704 cases came from East Delhi.

A total of 5,590 cases were reported by the administration, including 5,440 for not wearing masks, 108 for not following social distancing norms and 42 for spitting in public places.

Meanwhile, Delhi recorded 21,259 new COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 25.65 per cent during the last 24 hours, informed the state health bulletin on Tuesday.

According to the bulletin, with 21,259 new cases, the active caseload in the city rose to 74,881, the highest in the last eight months.

A total of 15,90,155 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the national capital so far. In the last 24 hours, 23 people have also died in Delhi, taking the total death toll here to 25,200.

Delhi has reported 546 cases of Omicron variant of coronavirus infection so far, out of which 57 patients have been recovered.
