Delhi Police Registers Kidnapping Case After BJP’s Bagga Arrested By Punjab Police

Mumbai: Delhi Police has registered a kidnapping case after arresting of BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga by Punjab Police over his alleged threat to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

According to a report in Times Now, the convoy of Punjab Police carrying Bagga to Mohali has been stopped in Kurukshetra, Haryana.

The Punjab Police arrested the Delhi BJP spokesperson from his residence in the national capital on Friday morning.

Bagga has been quite vocal against Kejriwal on social media. The AAP, which is ruling both Delhi and Punjab, came under criticism for its tweets against the Delhi Chief Minister over the film ‘The Kashmir Files’.

The BJP leader was given five notices and would be produced in a Mohali court.

According to Punjab Police officials, five notices were served to Bagga (April 9, 11, 15, 22 and 28), but he deliberately did not join the investigation.

Last month, the Punjab Police had registered a case against Bagga for making provocative statements, promoting enmity and making criminal intimidation. A case was registered against him on the complaint of AAP leader Sunny Ahluwalia.

Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta has claimed that Punjab Police is taking orders from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to silence all those who questioned him.

AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj defended the action of the Punjab Police and said that all the rules are being followed.

He further said that the BJP has a long history of using government machinery to target political opponents.

“Punjab Police is acting in a fair manner. Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga’s tweets were polarizing and provocative in nature, which led to action.”

Addressing the press conference, BJP leader and spokesperson Nupur Sharma said that Bagga was arrested without completing the procedural formalities.

He said that as per the decision of the Delhi High Court, this arrest is illegal.

Sharma said that the inter-state police should inform the local police before making any arrest outside its jurisdiction and only then a person can be arrested.

BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that Bagga was not even allowed to wear a turban and his father was punched in the face. He also accused the Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal of misusing the Punjab Police.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Police has rejected the allegation that Bagga was kidnapped and has written a letter to the Haryana DGP along with a copy of the FIR.

It has also accused the Haryana Police of stopping it from discharging its duties
