Delhi Pollution: Air Quality Slightly Improved Falls In ‘Very Poor’ Category From ‘Severe’
Mumbai: In a huge relief for Delhiites, for the last 24 hours the air quality of the state and nearby areas slightly improved from ‘severe’ to ‘very poor’ category in Delhi-NCR, stated the Centre-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).
At 9 am today, Delhi’s overall AQI reached 381, which falls in the ‘very poor’ category. AQIs between 51 and 100 are considered satisfactory, 101–200 are moderate, 201–300 fall in the poor category. While 300-400 is considered ‘very poor’, the level between 401-500 falls under the ‘dangerous category’.
In Dhirpur, the AQI was 271 in the morning, while in the Mathura Road area it dipped to 236 in the ‘bad’ category.
Furthermore, AQI near Chandni Chowk, Airport, Terminal 3 and Delhi University stood at 375, 234and 256 respectively.
Locals, especially middle-aged people, complained of breathlessness and due to fatigue, requested the Delhi government to take necessary measures to deal with the danger.
To curb air pollution, the government led by Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi has announced the implementation of the Odd-Even scheme from November 4 to November 15, 2019.
