Delhi Pollution Levels Remain ‘Severe’, Citizens Advised To Avoid Outdoor Activities

It has advised people to keep the windows of their homes closed and give medicines to asthma patients

Mumbai: No relief for Delhi people as they are still gasping for a breath of fresh air as the air quality remained in the ‘severe’ category on Thursday.

According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), the overall air quality index (AQI) of the national capital was 426 with docking at 7 AM PM7 407 and PM 2.5 276 at 7 AM today.

Even in Noida, the morning air quality was not satisfactory as the AQI had PM 10 at 359 and PM 2.5 at 424.

According to SAFAR, “Under the influence of approaching Western Disturbances, increased surface winds and improved ventilation, AQI is forecast to improve to a very poor range of high-end by 2 January.”

A significant improvement in AQI is expected towards the middle-end of the poorest of the poor by 3 January.

The organization further predicted that tomorrow (Friday) the capital’s top three air pollution hot spots were likely to be Vinobapuri, Okhla and Bawana.

In an advisory, SAFAR has advised citizens to avoid physical outdoor activities including morning walks. “Stop any physical activity if you feel abnormal cough, chest discomfort, difficulty breathing or fatigue,” it said.
