‘Demon 2.0’: Rahul Gandhi Attacks NDA Over MSMEs

Mumbai: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi continued his attack against the National Democratic Alliance government and said that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led centre was “actively destroying our economy”.

Facing the cash crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent nationwide lockdown by micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the country, Gandhi called the Central Government Act ‘Demon 2.0’ (citing the first demonetisation period of 2016) said.

“Government is actively destroying our economy by refusing to give cash support to people and MSMEs. This is Demon 2.0,” the former Congress president said on social media platform Twitter

His remarks come at a time when the MSME sector is under severe financial stress due to the lock-down, which caused a slowdown in the national economy and forced many enterprises to cease operations.

Gandhi has recently been demanding cash assistance to MSMEs and has also urged the central government to provide cash assistance of Rs 7,500 to the weaker sections of the society for the next six months of the country.
