Devendra Fadnavis Approves Rs 17.66-Crore Construction Of Marathi Language Bhavan At Navi Mumbai

Mumbai: In a recent development, Maharashtra government has provided a green signal to built a sub-centre for Marathi Language Bhavan at Airoli in Navi Mumbai, this comes after Marathi writers protested for two weeks.

According to the Indian Express, Marathi Language Bhavan is being set up to bring all the offices of the Marathi language department under one roof for better coordination. Maharashtra Government has estimated an estimated cost of construction of building 17.66 crores.

Office of the Marathi Language Department, such as Directorate of Languages, Maharashtra State Literary and Culture Board, Maharashtra State will be adjusted in Marathi Encyclopedia Production Board and State Marathi Development Institute and their Regional Office Building

An official told the chief daily that a sub-centre is being set up in Navi Mumbai, to find suitable land in South Mumbai or Bandra Kurla complex to make the main centre of the Marathi Language Bhavan. Officially, this was proposed in Rang Bhavan near Washi Taloop, but after the objections of the Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee, the plan was removed.

A delegation of Marathi writers, including veteran Madhu Mangesh Karnik, former president of All India Marathi Literature Meet Laxmikant Deshmukh and others, had met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis last month. They meet Marathi to press for their demands of the classical position, to build a language building among others.
