Dharavi Reports 18 COVID Cases, Highest Since October 2020

Mumbai: Mumbai’s most famous area of ​​Dharavi on Monday reported the highest number of coronavirus cases since October. The sector saw 18 new cases on Monday, a substantial increase from the single-digit number of cases reported in the past few days.

Speaking to the media, a BMC official said that the caseload has now grown to 4166 in the region. On February, 16 COVID-19 cases were reported in Dharavi.

Meanwhile, it has been almost a year since the case of coronavirus appeared in Dharavi. The area reported the first coronavirus case on 1 April last year. It was 20 days later when Mumbai got its first coronavirus patient.

Dharavi reported zero coronavirus cases on December 25 after several months. It was the first time since the outbreak began in India.

The BMC official, however, told the media that the increase in cases could be attributed to invasive trials which have now been resumed.

According to the news agency PTI, the official said, “We are aggressively testing more and more people to curb the spread. Our teams are identifying crowded areas including religious places in particular and adequate testing Making sure. ”
