Did Well In 1st 6 Overs, But Failed To Execute Plans In Last 5 vs GT: Ravindra Jadeja

Mumbai: Chennai Super Kings captain Ravindra Jadeja said they failed to execute their plans in the last five overs while defending their 169-run total against GT on Sunday.

David Miller’s unbeaten half-century and Rashid Khan’s quick innings helped Gujarat Titans beat Chennai Super Kings by 3 wickets in their IPL 2022 match at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium here on Sunday.

“We got off to a great start. The first six overs were good as a bowling unit but credit goes to Miller, played some good cricket shots. When we were batting, the wicket was gripping and the ball was holding so we thought 169 was a par score,” said Ravindra Jadeja in a postmatch presentation.

David Miller’s sensational knock of 94* was in line with stand-in captain Rashid Khan’s quick knock of 40 off 21 balls as Gujarat chased down the target of 0f 170 with a ball to spare.

“But we didn’t execute our plans in the last five (20th over). I think CJ (Chris Jordan) is experienced so I thought let me go with him. He can bowl 4-5 yorkers. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen today, that’s the beauty of T20 cricket,” he added.

This is Gujarat Titans’ fifth win in six matches, while Chennai Super Kings’ fifth loss in six matches. GT currently leads the Indian Premier League 2022 table with 10 points while CSK is just above the winners Mumbai Indians.
