Dimuth Karunaratne Elected As The Captain For The Sri Lankan Team

Mumbai: Dimuth Karunaratne will lead the Sri Lankan side for the ODIs as a captain to help his team grow on over the WC.

For the past two years – Lasith Malinga, Thisara Perera, Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal had already captained for their team.

The 30 years old had not played a single ODI for the last two years and has 190 runs in his 17 ODIs with an average of just 16.

However, he helped the Sri Lankan side to clean sweep the test series against South Africa which scored his name towards captaincy.

Sri Lanka has lost its every match except one out of 13 and failed to showcase their talents in the past few years.
Sri Lankan selectors are yet to announce their squad for the grand event.

The team would play its warm-up matches against South Africa and Australia on May 25 and 27 respectively.
The team will head on its campaign on June 1 against New Zealand
