Dombivili Gang Rape: No Political Connection Found, Says Maha Police

Mumbai: Thane Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sonali Dhole on Friday said prima facie no political link was found to the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl in the Dombivli area of ​​Maharashtra’s Thane district.

While briefing the media about the investigation, Dhole, the head of the SIT set up to investigate the case, said that the condition of the victim is stable now.

“28 out of 33 identified accused arrested so far been arrested, out of which two are minors. The condition of the victim is stable. She knew the accused through social media. She knew the accused through social media. No political connection found in the case as of now,” she said.

She also pointed out that all the accused were either “friends or friends of friends” of the victim. In the Dombivli area of ​​Maharashtra’s Thane district, a case has been registered against 33 people for raping a 15-year-old girl several times in a span of nine months.

Police said that out of the 28 accused arrested, two are minors and they have been sent to Juvenile Correction Center in Bhiwandi. Based on the complaint of the minor, the police said that a case has been registered under sections 376 (rape), 376(n), 376(3), 376(d)(a) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act”.

In January this year, the victim was gang-raped allegedly by her ‘friends’ who filmed the crime which was used to blackmail her and rape her again.

“The video was circulated among other friends and acquaintances of the accused, who used it to blackmail the teenager and rape her on several occasions,” the police said.

The case came to light after the victim shared it with her aunt, after which a complaint was filed against the accused. “The victim knew almost all the attackers,” the police said.
