Don’t Blame NRIs For COVID-19, They Are Our Backbone: Kerala CM

Mumbai: In reminding the people of Kerala state that no one person should be blamed for the spread of COVID-19, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Monday that the state should not have a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) population. Viewed with resentment.

“Some are expressing a specific sentiment for NRIs for the COVID-19 pandemic. What we need to see is that it is a disease that has spread worldwide. We are also seeing how some developed countries are facing this disease with helplessness. COVID-19 is an epidemic. No one person can be blamed for this,” Pinarayi Vijayan said.

After the recovery of three students from China and being infected with COVID-19, Kerala again saw the second wave of a Pathanamthitta family who returned from Italy tested positive. The family was criticized for not sticking to COVID-19 preventive measures and not staying out of the house after returning to India.

As of Monday, 213 people are under epidemic treatment in the state, and the majority of this population has returned from abroad. Most of them are from Dubai.

“Our people are spread all over the world. They are working hard in the Manralyangal (desert), ”said Pinarai, referring to the Malayali population living in the Gulf, and said,“ The money that came from their sweat and toilets is what we feed ourselves Use for and who is dependent on it for. a living. We should not forget it. ”

Terming the NRI population as the backbone of the state, the Chief Minister of Kerala said that he should not be humiliated in any way.

“When they encounter a problem in those countries, is it important that they want to return? Most of them took good preventive measures after coming back to Kerala, only a few isolated incidents were reported which were to the contrary, ”he said.

Assuring the NRI population, the Chief Minister also said that the government would return the needs of his family back home

“Our brothers will naturally worry about their family because they can no longer return. But there is no need for any apprehension, you will be safe there and do socially responsible things, whatever is necessary and your family will be safe here. We assure the NRI population that this state is always with you.’
