Don’t Wait For Any Alliance, Gear Up For BMC Polls: Pawar Tells Party Cadre

Mumbai: NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Wednesday asked his party cadre to gear up preparations for elections to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Pawar was addressing a meeting of office bearers of Mumbai. He argued that if the NCP and Shiv Sena contest the BMC elections together, both will benefit immensely.

“Don’t wait for the NCP to form an alliance with any party, but start work keeping in mind the BMC elections,” he said.

Pawar and state unit chief Jayant Patil said NCP workers should increase contact with voters to increase the party’s presence. Pawar’s call assumes significance, especially after the split in Shiv Sena and uncertainty about the Maha Vikas Aghadi contesting the upcoming BMC elections together.

Pawar today announced that he would personally review the party’s work ward-wise after every 20 days.

‘’We have been trying for many years to expand our party in Mumbai. Party workers are working to spread their wings in Mumbai which is very important in state politics. You need to be more cautious about fielding party candidates in each ward. For this, we need to constantly communicate with people. For this, everyone should make effective use of social media.,’’ said Patil.
