Dream 11 Wins IPL 2020 Sponsorship For Rs 222 Crore

Mumbai: After Vivo title sponsor of Indian Premier League pulled out of this season citing the Anti-China sentiment in the country, one of the leading Fantasy platforms, Dream11 has bagged the title sponsorship of the IPL for the 2020 for the whopping amount of Rs 222 crore.

The 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to take place from September 19 2020.

As per reports Tata Group was the leading company to win the sponsorship race. However, Dream 11 eventually won it with an economic sum of Rs 222 crore. Interestingly, Dream 11 is also the official fantasy partner of BCCI and IPL. It also served as the official partner of the ICC during the World Cup last year.

Apart from Dream 11 and the Tata group, online education technology platforms Unacademy and Byju’s were also in the race for sponsorship.

Now that the title sponsor has been finalized, the BCCI is likely to release the IPL 2020 schedule soon.

The matches will be played in three cities, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah and it will be interesting to see which venue gets more matches to host. By now, it has been decided that the first part of the surplus will be played behind closed doors. The decision to allow viewers will be taken later, based on COVID-19’s position in the country.
