Talking to reporters, Harshvardhan said that the drought guidelines across the country are being run as per the new guidelines, which include feedback from experts after the drought in four states.

The Union Health Minister said, “Feedbacks received after the dry run in 4 states were included in guidelines for vaccination & today’s dry run in all states/UTs is being conducted as per new guidelines. Except for giving the actual vaccine, every procedure is being followed during the drill.”

Harsh Vardhan said the government’s priority is to ensure the safety and efficacy of the coronavirus vaccine. “I appeal to people not to pay heed to the rumours. Ensuring the safety and efficacy of vaccines is our priority. Different kinds of rumours were spread during polio immunisation but people took the vaccine and India is now polio-free,” he said.

A dry run is essentially a practice session where a sample number of beneficiaries will undergo a mock vaccination process. In addition to employees of designated vaccination centres, the participation of a selected group of health workers in the dry run trial would appear to be vaccine beneficiaries. Each centre will identify 25 test beneficiaries for the dry run.
