Dust Storm Causes Havoc in Mumbai: 14-Storey Under Construction Parking Lot Collapsed

Mumbai: Mumbai was struck by a fierce dust storm accompanied by rain, resulting in chaos and destruction in several areas across the city. One of the most severe incidents occurred near Barkat Ali Naka, Shri G Tower, in the eastern suburb of Wadala-Antop Hill road, where a 14-storey under-construction metal parking lot collapsed, causing significant damage to over 30-50 cars caught beneath the debris.
Video footage of the collapse captured the magnitude of the incident, prompting the swift deployment of two fire engines and a rescue van to the scene. Rescue efforts are currently underway as emergency responders work tirelessly to clear the rubble and assess the extent of the damage.
Additionally, in another part of the city, a large hoarding collapsed near a petrol pump station in Ghatkopar, injuring seven individuals. The incident, which took place at Police Ground Petrol Pump, Eastern Express Highway, Pantnagar in Ghatkopar East, resulted in the injured being promptly admitted to Rajawadi Hospital for treatment.
The strong dust storm, coupled with unseasonal rain, also led to the felling of numerous trees across different areas of Mumbai, further exacerbating the situation.
Traffic on roads and local train operations were significantly affected, while reports of water-logging in certain areas disrupted flight operations as well.
Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution and remain vigilant as the city continues to grapple with the aftermath of the destructive dust storm. Stay tuned for further updates on the ongoing situation.
