Ekta Kapoor Named In POCSO Case Over Objectionable Scenes Involving Girls In ‘Gandii Baat’

Mumbai: Producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, have found themselves embroiled in legal issues after a case was filed against them under the POCSO Act. The case pertains to an episode from season 6 of the web series Gandi Baat, produced by ALT Balaji, which allegedly featured inappropriate scenes involving minor girls.
According to the Mumbai Police, the case has been registered against Balaji Telefilm Limited, Ekta Kapoor, and Shobha Kapoor at the MHB police station in Mumbai. The charges include violations under Section 295-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Information Technology (IT) Act, and Sections 13 and 15 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The complaint claims that the series, which was streamed on ALT Balaji between February 2021 and April 2021, included obscene content featuring minor girls. However, the controversial episode is no longer available on the OTT platform.
Amid this legal turmoil, Ekta Kapoor’s latest production, Love, Sex Aur Dhokha 2 (LSD 2), directed by Dibakar Banerjee, hit theatres on April 19. The film, known for its provocative themes, continues the conversation on the impact of technology on intimate relationships. The poster for LSD 2 presents a powerful visual of a couple, highlighting the contrast between personal connection and the digital detachment prevalent in modern society.
While Kapoor’s latest cinematic venture sparks discussion, the legal proceedings surrounding Gandi Baat have added a layer of controversy to the producer’s current projects.
