Ex Gratia Of Rs 1 Crore To Families Of Deceased In Vizag Gas Leak Incident: Andhra CM

Mumbai: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said on Thursday that the families of those who died in the gas leak incident in Visakhapatnam would be given an ex-gratia amount of Rs 1 crore.

Also, given on the ventilator, Reddy said that an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh will be given.

The state government said that the situation is under control after the gas leak incident in Visakhapatnam.

A press release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) of Andhra Pradesh said that the official machinery started taking action immediately after the incident and was taken out of the area after rushing those who fell ill to nearby hospitals where they are being treated for respiratory and other ailments.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “Authorities have said that 10 people have died in the accident. My heartfelt condolences to the families of the 10 dead. I cannot bring them back to life, but will be stand by their families, will fully support them.”

He said that there are about 15,000 people in the area where the accident took place. He announced Rs 10,000 for all of them.

The Chief Minister further announced that Rs 25,000 will be given to all those undergoing primary care. 1 lakh rupees will be given to those who are hospitalized for at least 2 to 3 days. All people undergoing treatment on a ventilator will be given a compensation of Rs 10 lakh.

He said, “I order the authorities to provide full medical care to these people for free and then give them compensation.”
