Except For Final Semester, Other Exams Cancelled: TN CM

Mumbai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami said on Wednesday that except for the last semester, other examinations for undergraduate and postgraduate students have been canceled in view of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

He said that except for the final semester examination, the students who have paid the fee for other semester related subjects and are waiting for the examination will be exempted from giving the examination and will be awarded marks.

Palaniswami said in a statement that the decision has been taken, accepting the students’ request and according to the recommendations of a high-level committee.

Furthermore, the move is in line with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission and the All India Council for Technical Education.

Palaniswami said that he has directed the Higher Education Department to issue a detailed government order on the matter.

The students of UG in their first and second years pursuing polytechnics, arts, and sciences and in their first, second and third years of their engineering courses were exempted from writing their semester exams and were allowed by Palaniswami on July 23 to go into the next academic year.

Similarly, first-year postgraduate students of Arts, Science, and Engineering stream and first and second year MCA students were also exempted and allowed to proceed for the next year.
