Family Gets ₹3,419 Crore Electricity Bill In Madhya Pradesh, Man Hospitalised

Mumbai: A consumer in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior received an electricity bill of ₹3,419 crores, following which her blood pressure increased and her father-in-law, who is a heart patient, was shocked and was hospitalised.

According to reports, the house is registered in the name of Priyanka Gupta, she is a housewife and her husband Sanjeev Kankane is a lawyer. Sanjeev told that the electricity department had sent a bill of Rs 34195325293.

Sanjeev said that after getting the electricity bill, his wife’s blood pressure increased and her father, who is a heart patient, was shocked and admitted to the hospital.

When the Electricity Department came to know about the amendment, they immediately made a bill and increased it to about Rs 1300.

The general manager of the power company says that this is a human error and action has been taken against the officials concerned. The Assistant Revenue Officer has been suspended and a show cause notice has been issued to the Junior Engineer.

On the other hand, Energy Minister Pradhuman Singh Tomar said that action had been taken in the matter and what more was needed from this.
