Farmers’ Unions Rejects Govt’s Proposal Over Farm Laws, Protest To Continue

Mumbai: Farmer unions on Wednesday rejected the government’s proposals on changes in the three agricultural laws and said they would intensify their opposition to the repeal of these laws.

“We reject the government’s proposals,” Kranti Kisan Union president Darshan Pal said at a joint press conference of farmer unions on the Singhu border between Delhi and Haryana.

Farmers union leaders said that on December 14, there will be sit-in demonstrations at BJP offices in many parts of the country.

He said that the Delhi-Jaipur highway would be blocked on December 12 and said that he was calling farmers from other parts of the country to reach Delhi.

The proposals were sent to the farmers union leaders after attending the meeting of Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday.

Farmers are opposing three agricultural laws on Delhi’s borders.

PBeforeTuesday’s meeting, the government and farmer unions held five rounds of talks.

The farmers are protesting against the Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce(Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmer (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
