Fatima Sana Shaikh To Star In Hindi Adaptation Of Tamil Hit ‘Aruvi’
Mumbai: Bollywood actress Fatima Sana Sheikh is set to star in the Hindi adaptation of the 2017 Tamil hit film ‘Aruvi’.
Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the news on his Instagram handle. He also revealed that the film is not yet titled and is scheduled to go on floors in mid-2021.
He wrote, “FATIMA SANA SHAIKH IN #TAMIL REMAKE… #FatimaSanaShaikh to star in #Hindi adaptation of #Tamil film #Aruvi… Directed by E Niwas… The film – not titled yet – is produced by Applause Entertainment and Faith Films [Viki Rajani]… Filming begins mid-2021.”

The film will be starred by filmmaker E Niwas, who is the recipient of the National Film Award for ‘Shool’ (1999). The upcoming film will include Fatima portraying a fiery, epochal character of Tamil origin produced by Aditi Balan.
The film is being produced by Applause Entertainment and Faith Films Talking about the upcoming film, Fatima said, “I am so thrilled to remake Aruvi and really look forward to diving deep into the character’s skin. I am really glad that Applause Entertainment and Faith Films have come together to create this great content and I am really excited to start this journey.”
Released in 2017, ‘Aruvi’ earned critical acclaim and was a huge success at the box office. Social satire also travelled widely to major film festivals, gaining acclaim and cult status all along the way.
Praised by audiences and critics alike, ‘Aruvi’ was the rare commercial entertainer that held a mirror in society, with its brilliant commentary on consumerism and other prevalent issues with misunderstandings.
As a character, Aruvi was portrayed as a progressive, post-modern icon of feminism, and her radical journey through the film was an enchanted, sucker punch.
