Follow COVID-19 Protocols To Avoid Another Lockdown: Maharashtra CM

Mumbai: In view of the emergence of a new COVID-19 variant Omicron in South Africa, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has urged people to follow COVID-19 protocols to prevent another lockdown.

Thackeray, who is heading the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra, asked officials to take necessary steps to protect people from the new version of the deadly contagious virus without waiting for the central government’s guidelines.

He also urged the people of Maharashtra to follow COVID appropriate behaviour to avoid another coronavirus-induced lockdown in the state.

The Maharashtra Chief Minister made the remarks while addressing a virtual meeting with divisional commissioners and district collectors to discuss the COVID-19 situation in the state in the wake of the Omicron variant detected in South Africa.

Thackeray told the officials, “Do whatever is necessary to prevent the new deadly form of Covid-19. Let us begin without waiting for the instructions of the central government.”

“Citizens need to follow COVID-appropriate behaviour to prevent another lockdown in the state,” he said.
