Former Delhi Minister Rajkumar Chauhan Set To Quit BJP, Rejoin Congress

Chauhan had met Congress President Sonia Gandhi last week and said that he had gone to meet her on her instructions.

Mumbai: Ahead of Delhi Assembly polls, BJP faces drawback as Former Delhi minister Rajkumar Chauhan, who had joined the BJP last year, is set to rejoin the Congress.

A prominent Dalit face of the Congress, who joined the BJP in May last year, Chauhan told ANI that he would rejoin the Congress.

Chauhan had met Congress President Sonia Gandhi last week and said that he had gone to meet her on her instructions.

He also said that he has asked the BJP not to consider him for the party ticket.

“I have contested a lot of elections and Sonia Gandhi has made her a minister. I like her political career. I cannot say anything to her. Before meeting her, I had asked the BJP not to consider me for the ticket.” ” Upcoming voting I will join Congress under the direction of Sonia ji, ”Chauhan told ANI.

Chauhan was made the co-in charge of the BJP’s manifesto committee for the Delhi elections.

Prior to Chauhan, former Delhi Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely and former Union Minister Krishna Tirath returned to the Congress. Both Chauhan and Lovely were ministers in the Sheila Dixit government and were heavily regarded by the Congress in Delhi’s politics.
