Gautam Gambhir Wants To Play Cricket In Next Life As Well, Albeit With A Twist!

Mumbai : Former Indian Cricket player Gautam Gambhir announced his retirement on Tuesday evening by posting an emotional video on Facebook, it was heart break for all cricket fans. As he was one of the key player of India, he played 58 tests, 147 ODIs and 37 T20s. But his desire for the cricket does not end. He wishes he plays cricket in his next life too.

In a tweet conveying to BCCI, Gambhir wrote, “Cricket in my next life too but with a rider. Wanna open the batting and bowling too. @BCCI.” Previously BCCI had appreciated Gambhir for his outstanding performance. Focusing on his achievements in T20 as well as the ODI World Cups as a player and was also a part of the Indian Test team.

On his announcement all the cricketers came up twitting for his good future. Even the Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar twitted, “Congratulations @GautamGambhir on a glorious career. You were a special talent and had a Gambhir role in our win in the World Cup finals. Batting with you at Napier was extra special. Enjoy your second innings with family and friends!”

The left handed player will be playing his final domestic Ranji Trophy game for his home team Delhi starting Thursday. Starting his career against Australia in 2004, Gambhir gained 4154 in 58 test matches. Gambhir last played for India in December 2016. He also played as an opening pair with Virendra Sehwag and became a No.01 player in five-day series.

Announcing his retirement through a video, Gambhir said, “The thought has been with me day and night…it has accompanied me to practice sessions, mocking at me like a menacing bowler.”

He added, “Each time I got out playing for India, or KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) or Delhi Daredevils, this thought would turn into a sharp disturbing noise and walk with me all the way to the dressing room shouting that ‘it is over Gauti’”.
