Gay sex, Adultery Not Acceptable In Indian Army: General Bipin Rawat

Mumbai: A month after the Supreme Court decriminalized homosexuality and struck down a colonial-era adultery law Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat on said gay sex and adultery will not be allowed in the Indian Army.

In a press conference, replying to the question raised about Supreme Court decision, the Army Chief said that although his force is not above the law, it will not be possible to allow gay sex and adultery in the army. They said, “The army is conservative, the army is a family, we can not allow it to be kept in the army,” he said.

On September the Supreme Court unanimously rejected the 158-year-old colonial law under Section 377 of the IPC, which is the unconstitutional unnatural sex is criminal, saying that it is a violation of rights of equality.
