Government Claims “No Casualty” In Kashmir, 17-Year-Old Boy Kashmir’s First Casualty Since Article 370 Scrapped Off
Mumbai: 17-year-old Osaib Altaf is Kashmir’s first casualty since article 370, which gave special rights to the state of Jammu and Kashmir was scrapped off.
According to his father Mohammad Altaf Marazzi, Osaib was playing football near their house when suddenly they were chased away by the security forces at a foot over bridge at Parampora.
He said that since they didn’t have a television set at home and the communication lines were blocked, they had no idea about the article 370 decision of the centre. His father said that Osaib was playing football when a couple of his friends asked him to go see what’s happening a few metres away. When they came to the spot, the CRPF came from the other side and started chasing them. All the boys ran to safety before they were allegedly cornered at the Parampora foot over the bridge by the CRPF.
According to his father, they jumped into the river except for his son as he couldn’t swim. He tried to hold on to the bushes near the bank when one of the CRPF hit his hand as he drowned in the river.
This incident happened on August 5th, the day article 370 was scrapped off.
