Govt Ensured Nobody Goes Hungry In This Crisis: JP Nadda

Mumbai: Welcoming the Rs 1.7-lakh-crore relief package announced by the Union government, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president JP Nadda said it will help the poor, farmers and other needy sections of the society when the nation is on a 21-day lockdown to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Party president JP Nadda said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a “big relief” for the poor in this hour of crisis, adding that it is the ruling party’s resolve that no one will go hungry.

In his tweet, Nadda said that over 80 crores poor would get five kg of wheat and rice along with one kg of dal for three months so that everyone can get enough food.

He said that monetary relief would also be provided to farmers, daily villagers, poor women, disabled and senior citizens through direct benefit transfer.

“On behalf of every BJP worker, I thank the Prime Minister for this relief to the poor, farmers, women, youth, senior citizens and organized sector for this important decision and this relief package.”

Nadda also praised the government’s announcement of insurance of health professionals and the decision to give free LPG cylinders under the ‘Ujjwala’ scheme for three months.

The government announced the lockdown by mid-April, saying it was the only way for the country to decisively defeat the virus.
