Govt Has Money, But People Are Working With Full Of Negativity: Nitin Gadkari

Gadkari also said that the goal of making India a $ 5 trillion economy by 2024 was "difficult but not impossible"

Mumbai: Taking a dig here at people who are working with government, Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari said that government is not short of money the only problem is with the mindset of the people working here.

He said, “I will tell you the truth, there is no shortage of money.” We have only negativity in the mindset of people working with the government. He said that he did not have it to take any decision, “as well,” so I went to a higher stage, where he said they would start it. So I asked them what they would start. If you had the power to start anything, why would you be an IAS officer and work here? ”

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology in Nagpur, he said that his ministry plans to spend five lakh crore rupees on infrastructure development this year. Gadkari said, “During the last five years, I have awarded contracts worth Rs 17 lakh crore. This year I plan to spend Rs 5 lakh crore on the development of infrastructure.”

Gadkari also said that the goal of making India a $ 5 trillion economy by 2024 was “difficult but not impossible”.

Speaking at the 29th International Management Conclave of Indore Management Association, he said that this can be achieved by increasing domestic production and reducing dependence on imports.

He had said, “Our country has a lot of resources and production capacity. Despite this, we are spending crores every year on importing goods like medicines, medical devices, coal, copper, paper, etc.” “If we want USD 5 trillion to become an economy, we have to increase domestic production of these things rather than importing them.”
