Govt Will Reach The Roots Of It: Shinde On Baba Siddique’s Murder
Mumbai: Following the killing of NCP leader Baba Siddique, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde affirmed the government’s commitment to finding those responsible and ensuring strict action is taken.
In an exclusive interview with ANI, Shinde called the incident “unfortunate” and emphasized the government’s responsibility to maintain law and order. “Many of the accused have already been arrested. The Home Department will thoroughly investigate, and those involved will face strict action,” he stated.
Baba Siddique, a former minister and prominent NCP leader, was shot on October 12 near his son, MLA Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Mumbai’s Nirmal Nagar area. He sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and was taken to Lilavati Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The gang led by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has claimed responsibility, and 15 arrests have been made so far in connection with the case.
CM Shinde also reiterated his party’s stance on Nawab Malik’s candidature in Mankhurd, stating that the Yuti would not campaign for him. “Our decision is clear, and our candidate is contesting,” he said, noting that Ajit Pawar remains an alliance partner, and they will work together as planned.
Highlighting his government’s approach, Shinde described it as “a government for the common man,” emphasizing his direct connection with people and quick action on issues. “I believe farmers have the first right to the government treasury. In two years, we have allocated ₹15,000 crore to compensate for losses,” he said.
Shinde’s Ladli Yojana has received strong support, which he takes pride in. “People’s money should be used to save lives. Whether I’m at home, in the car, or at an event, I immediately approve any CM Relief Fund request, and over one lakh lives have been saved. This is a privilege for me,” he added.
