Great Day For US, We Can Smile Again: Biden As Mask Rule Lifted

Mumbai: US President Joe Biden said it was a “great day for America” as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lifted mask-wearing rule for people who’re fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Joe Biden celebrated the new CDC mask guidance by saying, “Today is a great day for America.” The president delivered remarks on the CDC news in the White House Rose Garden, notably not wearing a mask as he spoke to the American people. “For now, after a year of hard work and so much sacrifice, the rule is very simple: get vaccinated or wear a mask until you do,” Biden said.

“If you are fully vaccinated, you no longer need to wear a mask,” he said.

While summarizing the new guidance and encouraging more Americans to roll up their sleeves. “Get vaccinated or wear a mask until you do,” He added.

With the Biden, Rochelle Walensky, director of the CDC also said at an earlier White House briefing that, ” We have all longed for this moment when we can get back to some sense of normalcy.”

“Anyone who is fully vaccinated can participate in indoor and outdoor activities large or small without wearing a mask or physically distancing,” Walensky added.

Meanwhile, in the latest guidelines, the CDC said, those who are travelling within the United States need not get tested before or after travel or self-quarantine after travel. The CDC said the vaccines are effective at preventing the COVID19 disease, especially severe illness and death. The vaccines reduce the risk of people spreading COVID19, it said.
