Grid To Meet The Needs Of Marathwada Water Sector: CM

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Tuesday that his government is planning to ensure piped drinking water supply in each village of Marathwada region through the water grid.

He said that the agenda of the recently organized NITI Non-Cooperation meeting in New Delhi was ‘Water from Har Hargrimein Nal se jal (Supply of tap water in every household).

The newly set up Jal Shakti Ministry at the Centre will plan and implement policies for water conservation and supply, he said.

Fadnavis said that financial provision of Rs. 25,000 crores will be made for the Marathwada Water Grid from Rs. 20,000 crores, which will supply water to the dams and other reservoirs.

The Chief Minister was responding to Congress member Yashodmati Thakur who said that once the tap was being supplied once in 18 days in Parbhani city, only 44 water tankers were deployed to meet the needs of 3.5 lakh residents.
