Hardik Patel Quit Congress Fearing Jail In Sedition Cases: Jagdish Thakor

Mumbai: After Hardik Patel resigned from Congress on Wednesday, the party’s Gujarat chief Jagdish Thakor claimed, “Hardik feared that he may have to go to jail in sedition cases if he stays in the Congress.”

Speaking to ANI, Congress president Thakor said, “The party has given him everything. The party had made him a “star campaigner” in the recently-held Assembly polls to five states and had given him a helicopter as well. Party has given a very high post and yet he said that the party has not given anything then I think it’s not true.”

He said, “Now Patel will speak only what the BJP asks him to speak. Even the language of his letter was not his, but was prepared in the BJP office.”

Thakor claimed, “Hardik feared that if he was in the Congress, he might be jailed for sedition cases. So, to save himself from possible punishment, he decided to quit Congress and he might join the BJP as well,” Thakor claimed.

Talking about Hardik’s future, the Congress leader said that he will enjoy his life after being released from jail. The Patidar leader, who joined Congress in 2019, was promoted as one of the working presidents of Gujarat Congress in 2020.

Patel resigned from the party on Wednesday, saying Congress leaders in Gujarat were least bothered to address the real issues of Gujarat but were more focused on ensuring that Delhi Ensure the movement of people in Gujarat. The leaders got the “chicken sandwich” on time.

Gujarat assembly elections are due this year.
