HC Refuses To Pass Interim Order On Doctors’ Strike

Mumbai: Tension aimed in West Bengal as doctors are in against the attack on two of their colleagues by family members of a patient, meantime Calcutta High Court on Friday refused to pass any interim order.

On strike by junior doctors in state hospitals in protest against the assault on their two colleagues by members of a patient’s family.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice TBN Radhakrishnan and Justice Suvra Ghosh asked the state government to persuade the striking doctors to resume work and provide usual services to patients.

The court directed the West Bengal government led by Mamata Banerjee to make her aware of the steps taken after the attack on junior doctors in a city hospital on Monday night.

During the hearing of a PIL, the Chief Justice reminded striking doctors the ‘Hippocratic Oath’, which they take to ensure the welfare of all patients.

The bench fixed June 21 for further hearing of the petition.

After two of their colleagues ruthlessly beaten up at NRS Medical College of the city junior doctors have called for the strike in all the government hospitals of West Bengal, seeking adequate security in medical colleges and hospitals.
