Mumbai Rains: Hide Tide Expected After 12 Noon, We Are Prepared For It: CM Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai: In the light of IMD’s prediction, we had declared a holiday in schools and colleges last night & for offices in the morning said Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Since last 3 days, Mumbai is facing huge disaster, it has been reported water-logging in several areas of the city and Railways have been shut in major parts of the state. Earlier in the day, the government announced July 2 as a public holiday for government offices and all schools.

It has also reported that 21 people have lost their lives in Mumbai due to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, CM Devendra Fadnavis said that “In the light of IMD’s prediction, we had declared a holiday in schools and colleges last night & for offices in the morning. Police dept & Disaster Mgmt under BMC are alert&helping people. Barring a few places, overall traffic has been under control.”

“There was heavy rainfall in Mumbai last night which led to accidents. In Malad, the wall collapsed & at least 13 died, 30-40 injured. I met them. Local trains operational on Western line but yet to resume on Central line as there’s more flooding there. Work on to pump out water,” he further said.

“High tide is expected at 12 noon, we’ll monitor the situation. Last night Mumbai police received 1600-1700 tweets from people, they received immediate help. BMC Disaster Mgmt worked entire night. Heavy rainfall is expected in the next 2 days. We are prepared for it,” CM added saying.

Meanwhile, CM also visited Shatabdi Hospital to meet persons injured due to Malad Wall Collapse incident in Mumbai.
